Youth Recognition

Each year we take time to recognize the youth of our community who have exhibited selfless energies helping to make our area a better place to live and grow. The Clarkston youth were nominated for their willingness to participate in many areas: SCAMP, K’NEX and LINK programs, repair work for the needy, teaching special needs children about horses, food collection for the Lighthouse and many other areas of community needs.

An evening of recognition, usually 100+ students only enforces our beliefs that our future looks promising with Clarkston’s youth leading the way.

The Clarkston Area Youth Assistance Committee is planning a YOUTH RECOGNITION RECEPTION to be held on April 28, 2010. The purpose of this event is to recognize youth who have made an outstanding contribution to an individual or an organization without compensation for their time. Nominees are selected based on voluntary services; paid services are ineligible.

We ask you to reflect over the past year and consider youth who may have volunteered in an extraordinary way, such as: personal acts of heroism or community services performed in hospitals, nursing homes, schools, churches or parks.

Be assured that all deserving youth nominated from our community will be recognized in some way for their voluntary contributions. All those nominated will receive certificates and the top recipients will receive medallions. The nominees, their parents and the nominator will be invited to the dessert reception in the Spring of 2010. We want the young people in our community to get the recognition they deserve and with your help this can be accomplished.

INSTRUCTIONS TO NOMINATE A YOUTH ARE:

(1) The nominee must reside within the Clarkston School District and still be attending school and not graduated from high school.
(2) A nominator must be an adult.
(3) Nominations must be submitted on the attached form. Please print names as they should appear on the award certificates and give complete addresses for invitations.
(4) Nominees are judged based on their voluntary services performed. The judgment of the selection committee is final.
